Death Metal Guitar Lesson – Improve Your Ability To Burn Through Metal Guitar

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

A lot of guitarists might enjoy their jazz, country, rock, or blues, but some of the most technical and interesting riffs can come from a death metal guitar lesson. For some, there’s nothing better than that intense grinding break-down or shredding intro riff in a metal song.

Even though more than one type of metal is known in music, death and black metal are considered extremely intense and brutal compared to others. Take some time to try out these easy but effective tips as part of a short death metal guitar lesson.

1. Watch videos to see techniques up close. If you’re having a hard time really nailing a certain skill but can’t quite get it, then maybe you should find a video online. There are videos for just about anything these days and you might find the exact metal guitar skill that you were searching for.

2. Separate your hands. This tip isn’t exactly how it sounds, but you should actually try out skills and techniques with just one hand at a time until it feels comfortable. You might not really get any cool sounds out of it, but your hands will definitely learn to fend for themselves a bit quicker.

3. Get the real scoop on what your distortion should sound like. Your favorite metal bands and guitarists have their own little secrets for guitar distortion and with a little research, you can probably reveal them. Read articles or watch videos to see what the professionals are using to sculpt their brutal tone.

4. With less fingers comes less speed. Seriously, if you’re afraid to put more of your fingers into the mix when learning metal, you’re going to miss out on some speed. Do a few comfortable exercises to ease your neglected fingers into your playing sessions.

5. Attempt to learn metal songs of your favorite bands. You can try to gain information about death metal guitar from articles and lessons, but playing real songs is a whole new experience. Try to tackle just a couple songs at a time until they’re pristine and discover what techniques your idols are really putting into action.

When you start to learn more and more metal guitar skills faster, you’ll notice that your credibility as a guitarist begins to rise. Keep focusing on the details of your skills and you’ll find yourself developing into quite a metal lord.
